The Department of Fundamental Sciences is a core structural unit of the military institute and is responsible for delivering instruction and methodological support in its academic disciplines; conducting research in accordance with the department’s academic focus; and carrying out military-scientific and educational work with cadets.
The department offers courses in Higher Mathematics, Advanced Topics in Mathematics, Operations Research, Physics and General Physics, and Engineering Graphics. These disciplines constitute the foundation of an engineering education for military specialists.
The department provides instruction to cadets and part-time students pursuing a Bachelor’s degree across all licensed specialties, establishing the academic groundwork necessary for subsequent professional and practical training.
From the very first classes, experienced academic staff guide cadets in applying the knowledge gained from departmental disciplines to military practice.
The department’s educational and material resources include nine classrooms, two specialized instructional rooms (a Mathematics Room and an Engineering Graphics Room), a large drafting hall, and three physics laboratories: “Mechanics. Electricity and Magnetism,” “Waves. Optics,” and “Solid-State Physics.” During laboratory sessions, cadets develop practical skills in working with a wide range of physical instruments and equipment.
Currently, the academic staff of the department includes five Candidates of Sciences who hold the academic title of Associate Professor.
