The Department of Tactics is a structural unit of the Faculty of Professional Military Education, Leaders’ Training School, at the S.P. Korolev Zhytomyr Military Institute. The Department is responsible for educational and methodological support in key disciplines, including General Tactics and the Fundamentals of Military Management.

The Department provides training for cadets, students, and adjuncts at the initial (short-cycle), first (bachelor’s), second (master’s), and third (doctoral) levels of higher education. In addition, it delivers professional military education courses for officers. The Department’s primary mission is to ensure high-quality training for cadets and students of the Institute. This is achieved through the implementation of international best practices in educational quality assurance, consideration of stakeholder requirements for the preparation of military specialists, and incorporation of the operational experience of the Defense Forces of Ukraine in repelling the full-scale invasion of the russian federation. The Department also actively integrates NATO training programs and methodologies into the educational process to support the transition to Alliance standards.

The ultimate objective of combined military training during the first two years of study is to provide cadets with the practical knowledge, skills, and competencies required to perform duties in entry-level officer positions under combat conditions.

The Department’s training facilities and material base fully meet the requirements for the education and preparation of cadets and students. They ensure the effective delivery of academic programs and support the organization and conduct of practical training in the relevant disciplines.
